Somatic Yin Yoga

Whether you’re holding it all together on the outside but exhausted on the inside, or simply need to befriend your body and come back home to yourself, this practice is for you.

Somatic Yin Yoga weaves longer-held, gentle yin postures with somatic movements to release tension in the body and mind, and nourish you on every level.

So often our bodies are stuck in fight, flight or freeze without us even realizing it — sticky shoulders, shallow breath, tight hips, clenched jaws, that constant hum of anxious energy and buzzing thoughts... this practice meets you there.

  • Grounded yin yoga shapes work with your muscles and fascia to soften long-held tensions. (Supported by tons of props, time and tenderness!)

  • Embodied mindfulness practices release the grip of busy “thinking brain” and guide awareness down and into the body to rest in a powerful space of quiet awareness.

  • Somatic movements retrain the nervous system to release habitual patterns, contractions and stuck energy.

Come as you are and connect, explore, release, and cultivate inner stillness. Somatic Yin Yoga is yoga from the inside out.

Sessions led by Lori Wieder, LAPC, C-IAYT.

8-week series runs September 30–November 18

Narrative Therapy: Creative Writing

We all carry stories—some we’ve been told, some we’ve told ourselves. And over time, those stories can shape how we see ourselves, what we believe we’re capable of, and how we relate to others.

This 6-week therapeutic writing group is a space to explore those stories with curiosity, compassion, and creativity. Using narrative therapy and guided writing prompts, you’ll begin to notice which parts of your story feel true, which ones you’ve outgrown, and which ones you’re ready to rewrite.

Each week includes a grounding check-in, a themed prompt, quiet writing time, and space to share (if you’d like to). You don’t need to be a writer to join—just someone who’s ready to show up, reflect, and express.

Whether you’re working through a life transition, healing from something hard, or simply wanting to get to know yourself better, this group offers a supportive and nonjudgmental space to begin writing the next chapter—on your own terms.

Brothers in Balance: Men’s Support Group

A space for connection and support for life’s challenges.

At The Healing Room, we know that being a man often means carrying a lot—and being expected to carry it quietly. Brothers in Balance is a group for men who are navigating the stress, pressure, and responsibilities of life and looking for a place to feel understood. Whether you’re overwhelmed, feeling disconnected, or you just know something needs to shift, this group offers a supportive environment where you don’t have to walk that path alone. We’re not here to fix each other or sit around talking in circles. This is about showing up, being real, and building connection with other men who get it. You won’t be pushed to share more than you want to—but if you’re ready to be part of honest conversations and a healthier way forward, we’d be honored to have you. Some guys come to this group because they’re going through a tough time. Others just need a place to take off the armor once in a while. Whatever brings you here, you’ll find respect, clarity, and community.

Narrative Therapy: Creative Writing

Session led by Elena Greenland, LAPC, NCC

Saturdays at 1:00pm
Meeting for 6 sessions starting October 4th
Cost $20/session

Somatic Yin Yoga

Tuesdays 5:30-6:30, $120 for the series / $20 Drop In

Healing Heroes is a support and wellness group created specifically for those who serve on the front lines—firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, police officers, dispatchers, corrections officers, and others in high-stakes roles.

We understand that the cumulative stress of your work doesn’t always stay at work, and that talking to someone who doesn’t get the job can sometimes make things feel even more isolating. This group offers a confidential, judgment-free space to unpack the weight of the job and learn strategies to manage chronic stress, hypervigilance, trauma exposure, and emotional fatigue. Sessions blend peer support, guided self-regulation practices (like grounding, breathwork, and body awareness), and practical tools to build resilience and prevent burnout. You’ll leave each session with increased clarity, a greater sense of connection, and tools you can use immediately—both on and off duty. Whether you’re brand new to the field or a seasoned veteran, Healing Heroes is here to support your mental and emotional well-being with people who understand the realities you face

Led by Josh Crownover, licensed therapist & E.M.T.

A space for connection and support for life’s challenges.

At The Healing Room, we know that being a man often means carrying a lot—and being expected to carry it quietly. Gentle Yoga, Mindfulness & Breathwork

Mindfulness through Mark-Making: Art as a path to clarity, creativity, and connection

Mondays at 6-7:30pm, May 19 - June 16

Description: Mindful mark-making is an approachable, relaxing way to foster emotional awareness, enhanced focus, and increased creativity. It can be a form of meditation, allowing focus on the present moment and the act of creating. Mindful mark-making also encourages experimentation with different materials and techniques without fear of judgment. It can help rekindle creativity that may be dormant due to daily pressures.

Join us for this 4-week series, where we will incorporate the 7 Principles of Mindfulness while using watercolor paint and drawing materials as tools for relaxation. In each session, you’ll be led through a series of creative mark-making exercises and grounding techniques, followed by a longer, meditative painting & mark-making session.

This group is designed for adult participants who are seeking something engaging and creative. Our session will focus on process, exploration, discovery, and play. This group provides a safe and sacred space for expressing our creative selves through a variety of creative mark-making exercises.

All materials supplied. No art experience necessary.

Cost: Free

Instructor: Amy Frank is a dedicated art therapy intern at The Healing Room. In addition to finishing her training at Penn West University, Amy is the founder and director of The Makery, a non-profit art studio in State College and Bellefonte and a mixed-media artist and art instructor.

Tactical Drumming for First Responders

Tactical Drumming for First Responders

Join the first ever "First Responder Only" drumming group and learn new strategies to help navigate some of the emotional chaos that accompanies your work. We offer techniques to help reduce stress, improve sleep, quiet racing thoughts, regulate mood, and manage anxiety & other emotions.

Beginners are welcome. Absolutely no musical experience is necessary to participate.

Untreated stress is a silent killer. But for first responders, it's an unavoidable part of the job. As first responders, we know the importance of working together & supporting each other. I have created a unique group that brings together two of my personal passions - being of service to others and making music. This group will allow first responders to join together, share that unspoken bond, and have fun while learning about the positive impact music can have on reducing stress. I incorporate education on stress-reduction, easy drumming, & activities that provide a solid foundation to help you add some stress-management skills to your tactical toolkit. This group is not a therapy session. We won't be "talking about our feelings". Its about having fun, connecting, and simply learning how to better manage stress. And really, nothing is better for relieving stress than beating the heck out of some drums!

And to show thanks for all the ways you continue to serve your communities, cost to attend will be donation only. Regostration required.

Open to: Law enforcement, fire services, EMS, corrections, dispatch, military, lifeguards, emergency medical workers, journalists, and more.
